- * Ribosomal protein S19e signature *
- ************************************
-
- A number of eukaryotic and archaebacterial ribosomal proteins can be grouped
- on the basis of sequence similarities [1,2]. One of these families consists
- of:
-
- - Mammalian S19.
- - Ascaris lumbricoides ALEP-1.
- - Yeast S16A (RP55).
- - Aspergillus S16.
- - Halobacterium marismortui HS12.
-
- These proteins have 143 to 148 amino acids. As a signature pattern, we
- selected a well conserved stretch of 13 residues in the C-terminal part of
- these proteins.
-
- -Consensus pattern: S-x(2)-[LIVM]-x-R-x-[AV]-L-Q-x-L-E
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
- -Last update: December 1992 / Text revised.
